Whole plant: Decoction used to treat coughs and colds and to reduce blood-sugar level. Used for cramps (babies), stomachache, pain, fever, hemorrhage, heart problems, impotence, menstruation, and to prevent miscarriage in NW Guyana.

Leaf: Used for hair loss in NW Guyana.
